Delivering sustainable shareholder value

Message from our Chair.

Welcome to the NZPM Co-operative.

At NZPM we are proud to serve our members by delivering sustainable shareholder value to them both as shareholders and as customers.

Our people are our single most important contributor to our success by working together to support each other, our members, our customers and our suppliers.

We have a strong focus to deliver sustainable business growth and performance, increase our ordinary shareholder membership and developing our social responsibility initiatives. Our proven business model has enabled us to provide strong rebate dividend returns to our shareholders.

Likewise, our journey to employ innovative technology strives to improve operational outcomes, lower costs and create a frictionless customer experience will enable us to further diversify and strengthen our co-operative.

We are prepared for the future economic challenges and are confident that our co-operative has the right strategy, leadership and culture to respond to these operational risks and continue to accelerate our strategies through these economic cycles.

Our consistent strong performance will ensure that NZPM can continue to look to the future with confidence and we look forward to you joining us as a shareholder.

Kathy Meads,
NZPM Chair

Who are we.

NZPM is a co-operative which was formed in 1964 by a group of Master Plumbers. The objective of the co-operative was to establish a merchant chain throughout New Zealand with strong goals to improve the profitability and quality of service and products to its plumber shareholders.

NZPM has seen significant growth and evolution over the past 60 years of business and continues to develop year on year with the addition of certain classes of builders as shareholders in 2017. With annual turnover in excess of $300 million and over 1,000 shareholders, NZPM’s focus is firmly on the dual goals of sustainably growing our members’ and customers’ business and improving the financial and operating performance of the co-operative.

As a member of Co-op Business New Zealand, we have a strong co-operative ethos and support the seven Rochdale principles that underpin all co-operatives: Voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, member economic participation, autonomy and independence, continuing co-operative education and training, co-operation amongst co-operatives and concern for the community.

We were proud to win the 2021 Co-operative Business of the Year Award in recognition of our strong co-operative ethos.
